Content: A conflict between rival lovers in a fishing village reaches its climax in an offshore lighthouse – an isolated, confined environment that provides the perfect backdrop for their final, fatal showdown. Rivalry marks the relations of the other characters too: between the sister and cousin of the first lighthouse keeper and the mother of the other, and between a fisherman and a coastguard. The digital treatment of the image was made by Cinemateca in 2021 using a distribution print as a reference for the reproduction of the original tinting and toning.
