- Genre: Non-Fiction
- Content: The film program presented by the National Agency of Archives, Moldova, consists of four non-fiction works produced at the “Moldova-Film” Studio when Moldova was a Soviet republic. Each of these films bears the mark of Vlad Ioviţă (1935-1983), either as screenwriter, director, or both. He is acknowledged as one of the most representative Moldovan filmmakers. “The Well” portrays the digging of a well in a Moldovan village, carried out with traditional methods and tools. “Stone, More Stone” depicts the daily work in a stone quarry in Soviet Moldova, in striking contrast to the official portrayal of social life. For this reason, the film was withheld from public release until the late 1980s. “The Dance of Our Autumns” focuses on musical traditions and folk dance, while “On Holidays” captures one of the local winter customs, “Malanca.” As in all his creative endeavors, not only in film, Vlad Ioviţă combines, in a distinctive cinematic manner, coherent narrative with meaningful detail – most often placed against a profoundly dramatic background.
