School Students Attend Screening of The National Archives’ Documentary on the Testament of David IV

“The Remnant of a Precious Deed”—this is the title of the documentary film produced by the National Archives of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia, dedicated to the testament of King David IV the Builder. The screening of the film took place at the Archives’ cinema hall for school students.

The event was organized in collaboration with the National Archives and the Georgian Association of History Teachers. The audience included students from the “Young Historians’ School”, which operates under the association.

The testament of King David IV, preserved in the National Archives of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia, was composed in 1123–1124, before his military campaign in Shirvan, and holds exceptional significance in the historiography of Georgia.

The documentary, authored by Ketevan Asatiani, features historians Giorgi Othmezuri, Mamuka Tsurtsumia, Temo Jojua, and Mzia Surguladze, who discuss the historical context and circumstances surrounding the drafting of David IV’s testament. They provide an in-depth analysis of the invaluable information the document preserves about the king’s character and legacy.

Following the screening, a discussion was held, moderated by historian Tea Kartvelishvili.

The film will soon be published on the National Archives’ social media platforms.
