13,883 Sheets of Archival Documents Were Restored at the National Archives

In the restoration laboratory of the National Archives of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia, 13,883 sheets of documents from the National Archival Fund were restored during the first six months of 2025. In addition, over the six-month period, restorers worked on the restoration and conservation of 35 photographs, 52 technical drawings, 2 maps, and 129 newspapers. Among the documents are materials preserved in the Central Archives of Historical, Contemporary History, and Cinema-Photo-Phono Documents.

It is noteworthy that in January 2025, the National Archives became a member of the International Association of Book and Paper Conservators (IADA), which will allow the restorers of the National Archives to become acquainted with the best international practices; participate in workshops and training courses; cooperate with various professional organizations; and stay continuously informed about new technologies.
