In 2024, the National Archives of Georgia, under the Ministry of Justice of Georgia, scanned 2,786,393 pages of archival documents, 129 film records, 7,375 photographs, and 465 audio records.
The digitization of archival materials aims to protect the original documents from physical damage and increase their accessibility. The process is carried out using modern technologies and serves to preserve the country’s national heritage.
Notably, the digital versions of these documents enabled the creation of approximately ten thematic and authorial collections on the National Archives’ website in 2024. These include multimedia pages such as “Vano Sarajishvili - 145” and “Dimitri Kipiani - 210”, as well as online collections such as “Akaki Chkhenkeli - 150”, “The 1924 Anti-Soviet Uprising”, “Oskar Schmerling’s Tsarmavali Tfilisi”, “Historical Monuments of Georgia”, and online photo collections featuring Aleksandre Roinashvili and Vittorio Sella.
