The National Archives of Georgia will bring the Archive of Khariton Chavichvili in Georgia

The National Archives of Georgia started the digitalization process of the archive of Khariton Chavichvili at the Library of the United Nations Office in Geneva. Khariton Chavichvili was the representative of the first Democratic Republic of Georgia.

The work for importing the digital copy of the archive of Khariton Chavichvili lasted for a long time ago. The Minister of Justice of Georgia, Thea Tsulukiani visited the Library of Geneva last year and personally negotiated to get the right for the National Archives of Georgia about scanning the documents.

As a result of the negotiations, the sides decided that the specialist of the National Archives of Georgia will arrive in Geneva with their equipment and create the digital copies of these important archival materials.

The special group of the National Archives of Georgia will finish the digitalization process in the second half of the February. After importing in Georgia, digitalized documents will be described in Georgian and English languages. The English version will be given to the Library of the United Nations office that will simplify the researching process for the researchers.

The Archive contains: the documents representing the working process of the Georgian representatives in "The League of Nations"; The correspondence between the European organizations and the European Politicians about the Georgian problematic issues; The materials representing the relationship between the Georgian Representatives and the Georgian immigrants, also the activities of "The Bureau of Foreign Press of Georgia" and "The International Helping Committee of Georgia". The archive of Khariton Chavichvili also contains his memoirs and a private library.

Importing in Georgia, description and accessibility of Khariton Shavishvili's digital archive will be a guarantee of the researching and preserving the 55 years story of fight of Georgian patriot for his Homeland.
