The Minister of Justice met Disabled Employees

On December 3, Minister of Justice Tea Tsulukiani met the disabled persons working in the system of the Ministry of Justice and its LEPLs to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The event was attended by the heads of all LEPLs - including the Public Registry, State Services Development Agency, the Notary Chamber, the National Bureau of Enforcement, National Archives and Smart Logic – where the persons with special needs are currently employed.

She congratulated the employees with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which has been celebrated since 1992 under the initiative of the United Nations. The Minister and other officials presented gifts to the disabled employees - specialized wheelchairs and adapted desks, which have been selected by considering their individual needs and interests.

23 persons with special needs are currently working for Ministry of Justice and its agencies.

The social program for the employment of persons with disabilities started six years ago. The initiation of the project within the Ministry agencies was made possible after development of information and communication technologies. Switching to electronic records management enabled individuals with disabilities to work remotely and perform respective procedures via the Internet. Part of them is working home-based without leaving premises and accordingly, avoids possible problems associated with transportation. Ministry of Justice ensured flexible and convenient home-based working conditions by providing computers and different office equipment. In addition, persons with special needs are provided with the same insurance package as the one offered to employees of the Ministry.

Ministry of Justice and most of the administrative buildings are fully adapted for disabled persons. If desired, they can work in the offices, move around independently, and enjoy office facilities specially customized to the needs, which, eventually, offer them a comfortable working environment.
