The Week of Georgian Animated Films in the Cinema of the National Archives

The Week of Georgian animated films was opened today in the cinema of the National Archives of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia.

The event was attended by: Thea Tsulukiani, the Minister of Justice of Georgia; Teona Iashvili, Director General of the National Archives, Giorgi Kakabadze; Director of the National Archives of Georgia; Giorgi Kharebava, member of the Board of Directors of Georgian Film Studio and other invited guests.

Animation Week is part of a project called "Re-Animation", which aims to bring Georgian cartoon films to the digital format, restoring them and showing them in the cinema. The project is being implemented in cooperation with National Archives of Georgia and the Georgian Film Studio.

Animated films are being digitized on the National Archives' high resolution film scanner and are being digitally restored. Cartoon films are color, image and sound proofreading. The goal of the project is to create high quality digital copies of animated films, to interest children and teenagers in Georgian cartoon films and to increase their popularity. From March 22 to March 28, the cinema hall of National Archives of Georgia will host the screening of 9 short animated Georgian cartoons, preserved in the Georgian Film Studio and the National Archives of Georgia.
