Today, at the cinema hall of the National Archives of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia, the audience attended the opening of the 4th International Archival Film Festival, which began with a screening of director Otar Iosseliani’s short feature film “April”.
The theme of this year’s festival is “Auteur Cinema.” With this focus, a selection of films from 11 countries will be screened over four days at the National Archives cinema. Film archive institutions from Georgia, Bulgaria, Estonia, Moldova, Portugal, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Croatia, Malta, and Belgium will present animated, documentary, and feature films preserved in their collections.
The event was opened by Giorgi Kakabadze, Director of the Central Archive of Film, Photo, and Audio Documents of the National Archives. Representatives Michał Mróz from the National Film Archives of Poland, Raquel Morais from the Portuguese cinemateca, and Manana Suradze, Head of the Film Promotion Department at the Georgian National Film Center, spoke about their festival programs.
The film festival will close on October 24 with Eldar Shengelaia’s film “Mikela”, presented by the Georgian National Film Center.
Admission to all screenings is free. Films will be shown in their original languages with English subtitles.
