Announcement – Opening of Dodo Abashidze's Jubilee Exhibition

On September 20 at 18:00, an exhibition titled "Dodo Abashidze – 100" will open at the exhibition pavilion of the National Archives of Georgia to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Dodo Abashidze's birth.

Visitors will see photographs depicting Dodo Abashidze's theatrical and film roles, his portraits, and family photos preserved in the archives.

Alongside the exhibition, there will be a presentation of the stamp "David (Dodo) Abashidze – 100 Years," created by designer Badri Gagnidze, which was issued by the Georgian Post this year.

Dodo Abashidze's acting career began in 1949 at the Rustaveli State Drama Theatre. During his seven years of activity, he performed in over 20 plays. From 1954 onwards, he appeared in films, embodying more than 50 roles in feature films, including Bichiko ("Chirichina," 1954), Abdushahili ("Bashi-Achuki," 1956), Dghvira ("White Caravan," 1963), Omar Margania ("Matsi Khvitia," 1966), Sosana ("The Great Green Field," 1967), Mamamze Eristhavi ("The Right Hand of the Great Master," 1969), Alexander ("Light in Our Windows," 1969), Pristavi ("Melodies of the Veris District," 1973), Jason ("The First Swallow," 1975), Papa Gabriel ("The Summit," 1976), Varlam ("Racha, My Love," 1977), Archiphus Sethuri ("Data Tutashkhia," 1977), Qvarqvare ("Qvarqvare," 1978), Giorgi ("Roots," 1987), and others.

It is noteworthy that, in honor of Dodo Abashidze, Nana Mchedlidze's film "The First Swallow" will be screened at the National Archives of Georgia's cinema as part of the International Festival of Archival Films on September 20.
