The National Archives of Georgia has launched its first Scientific-Informational Conference, Archives of Georgia, at the National Archives’ Exhibition Pavilion, dedicated to International Archives Day on June 9.
The conference aims to foster internal professional development, consolidate and analyze ongoing work, and promote the exchange of experience and innovations in both archival practices and academic research. It also seeks to strengthen institutional culture and encourage closer cooperation between archives.
Presentations at the conference were delivered by employees of the National Archives from both - Tbilisi and regional branches.
International Archives Day, celebrated on June 9, was established in 2007 by the International Council on Archives (ICA). The date commemorates June 9, 1948, when the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) founded the International Council on Archives.
As a member of the ICA, the National Archives of Georgia celbrates this important date annually through a variety of events and initiatives.
