Exhibition "Women's Council" held at the National Archives of Georgia

An exhibition titled “Women’s Council” was held at the exhibition pavilion of the National Archives of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia. The exhibition was dedicated to the long-stending history of the women’s organization and the public activities of the Georgian women.

The exhibition featured a rich collection of archival materials, including historian documents, photographs, posters and other materials, reflecting activities of prominent Georgian women from the second half of the 19th centuries to the present day. Among the exhibited materials were photographs of prominent figures in public and cultural life; biographical information about distinguished  individuals such as Barbare Eristavi-jorjadze, Ekaterine Gabashvili, Kato mikeladze, Mariam Jambakur-Orbeliani, Olgha Guramishvili-Nikoladze, Babo Khifiani, Nino Javakhishvili, Nino Antadze-Nakashidze and others; materials on the women elected to the legislative body of the First Democratic Respublic of Georgia (Kristine Sharashidze, Eleonora Ter-Pharsegova-Makhviladze, Ana Sologhashvili, Elishabed Nakashidze-Bolqvadze, Minadora Ordjonikidze-Toroshelidze); educational and social posters published by the Commission for the Improvement of women’s Living Conditions; Photographs from International Women’s Congresses and delegation visites; as well as statements and other documents prepared by the Women’s Council of Georgia.

It's noteworthy that, following the exhibition, the archival materials documenting the organization’s activities will be housed at the National Archives of Georgia, further enriching the existing collection of archival materials related to the women’s organization.

In 2019, the tradition of the Women’s Council’s activities in Georgia was granted the status of an Intangible Cultural Heritage Monument.
