The National Archives is hosting a retrospective of restored Georgian films

A retrospective of Georgian cinema of the 1920s-30s is underway in the cinema of the National Archives of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia.

Today, on December 4, the audience will see "Khabarda" (1930) by Mikheil Chiaureli and "Americanca" (1930) by Leo Esakia.

The retrospective was opened on December 2 with the film "Vin Aris Damnashave?" ("Wild West Rider") (1925) directed by Alexander Tsutsunava. For 4 weeks, Georgian feature films will be shown, which were scanned and restored in high quality in the last few years with the cooperation of the National Archives of Georgia and the National Film Center of Georgia.

Among the films are: "Eliso", "Surami’s Tsikhe", "Bela", "Kajeti", "Ghrubelta Tavshesafari", "Amok", "Gogi Ratiani", "Comunari Chibukhi", "Samanishvili's Dedinatsvali", "Krazana", "Dakarguli Samotkhe", "Buba", "Uzhmuri".

The retrospective will be closed on December 25, at 17:00, with Alexander Tsutsunava's film "Janki Guriashi" (1928). The electronic music created pecially for this film by the composer Vazha Mari will be performed live during the screening.

The organizers of the film screenings are the National Film Center of Georgia and the National Archives of Georgia.
