In 2025, the Restoration Laboratory of the National Archives of Georgia under the Ministry of Justice of Georgia restored 22 464 pages of archival documents, 117 photographs, 129 newspapers, 18 historical documents, 4 maps, and 83 technical (design) drawings.
Among the restored materials are: a file from the personal collection of historian Tedo Zhordania, consisting of approximately 400 pages of historical and ethnographic records; 18 volumes of 19th-century purchase registers; 129 issues of newspapers published in 1918; a historical map of Georgia published in 1923; and 117 photographic positives from two photo albums of the film studio “Georgian Film”.
During the restoration process, the National Archives uses modern conservation materials and technologies, ensuring improved protection and long-term preservation of archival documents.
It is noteworthy that in January 2025, the National Archives became a member of the International Association of Book and Paper Conservators (IADA). This development enables the National Archives’ restorers to become familiar with international best practices, participate in professional meetings and training courses, and cooperate with leading professional organizations.
