Michel Ramishvili, the grandson of Noe Ramishvili, the first Chairman of the Democratic Republic of Georgia, has donated his grandfather’s personal letters and other archival materials preserved in their family archive to the National Archives of Georgia.
Among the transferred documents, particularly significant are the letters Noe Ramishvili sent to his wife, Mariam Gogiashvili, between 1924 and 1930. These letters vividly reveal the Georgian politician’s personal nature, his deep affection, and his devotion to his family. Michel Ramishvili also handed over a 1950 issue of “Chveni Drosha” (Our Flag), the periodical of the Social-Democratic Party of Georgia’s Foreign Bureau; samples of Georgian periodical press; a 1951 travel document and refugee certificate issued in France to David Buachidze; a notice announcing Noe Ramishvili’s death; a condolence card sent to his wife and children; a 1928 letter addressed to Konstantine Kandelaki, then Minister of Finance and Trade-Industry of the First Republic; and other valuable documents.
It is noteworthy that the National Archives already holds Noe Ramishvili’s personal collection, which comprises 90 archival files spanning the years 1917–1965. The newly donated documents from his descendant will enrich this collection and will soon be made available to interested researchers.
