Laboratory of Restoration has renewed more than 6000 papers during the 3 months

Restoration and conservation of 5 945 papers, 169 photo positives, 20 technical drafts were hold from January till March, 2013 at the Laboratory of Restoration of the National Archives of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia.

Among the restored documents are: manuscript documents of the division of ancient documents of the Central Historical Archive – 238 papers, among them Kings’ deeds, donation books, religious documents, etc. The restoration of the 16th century liturgical book Gulani is still continued.

The laboratory worked on the fonds of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the First Democratic Republic. Together with the restoration, the materials were bound and set in the cover. The documents are already available for the researchers through the research room of the Central Historical Archive.  

Besides, the restoration, 4 317 papers from the division of the ancient documents were disinfected at the Laboratory.
The Laboratory of Restoration is also involved in Digitalization Program. In the frames of the program 392 files were prepared for scanning and were set in the cover again during the three months.
