The National Archives of Georgia Hosted Cadets of the National Defence Academy

Cadets of the David Aghmashenebeli National Defence Academy visited the National Archives of Georgia.

In the exhibition pavilion, the guests viewed the exhibition “Independence Day of Georgia” dedicated to the Democratic Republic of Georgia, and attended a short lecture on the same topic delivered by historian Dimitri Silakadze, a staff member of the Scientific Department. Head of the Old Documents Division of the Historical Archive, Manana Chumburidze, introduced the cadets to the oldest documents preserved at the National Archives – royal charters and manuscripts of Georgian kings. The Archives also safeguard one of the oldest historical documents – the charter of King David IV to Shio-Mgvime Monastery. A documentary about this charter, "The Remnant of a Precious Deed", was presented to the cadets in the archive’s cinema hall by the film’s author, Ketevan Asatiani, Head of the Scientific Department.

It is noteworthy that this was the second visit of the cadets of the David Aghmashenebeli National Defence Academy to the National Archives.
